Bilaspur: Chhattisgarh Police has arrested a youth who claimed to be a member of Lawrence Bishnoi gang and threatened to shoot a contractor over the phone. The audio of the accused threatening is going viral on social media. This case is from Masturi police station area.
Monu Bhargav, a resident of Khaira in Masturi police station area, was called by Nitesh Sharma of the village and threatened to enter his house and shoot him, claiming to be a member of Lawrence Vishnoi gang. The victim filed a complaint by handing over the audio of his conversation with the accused to the police. The victim said in the complaint that Nitesh Sharma told him that Lawrence Vishnoi treats him like a brother and loves him a lot. Sharma also claimed that in a murder case in Bihar, Lawrence Vishnoi spent Rs 40 lakh to get him released from jail within a month.
After investigating the audio clipping, the police have registered a case against Nitesh Sharma under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and preventive action and arrested him for using abusive language and threatening to kill.
Earlier in June 2022, Delhi police’s Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit arrested two persons for making extortion calls to a businessman in the name of the gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his associate Goldy Brar.
The police said that the two arrested had threatened the businessman that unless he paid them ‘protection money’ his fate would be that of the slain Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. The accused were identified as S. Singh, 29, and A.A. Khan, 24. The two were residents of Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur district.
