Monsoon activity intensifies across Chhattisgarh as the cyclonic system over the Bay of Bengal has now activated bringing relief to farmers awaiting rain for their lands.
The Met department has issued a warning against heavy to very heavy rainfall across Bastar region for the next three days. As per data, Bastar alone recorded 15 cms of rain in the past 12 hours. According to the weather department, central and southern regions of the state a likely to witness intense rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lighting
Authorities have warned residents to stay away from low lying areas citing concerns of water logging and localized flooding. Fishermen have been urged not to venture into the rivers and streams. For the next three days residents have been asked to stay out and follow instructions by the authorities. The system will gradually weaken as it traverses the landscape.
Meanwhile, in Raipur, heavy rains have reported severe waterlogging in the Daganiya and Tatibandh areas and at the Gudhiyari Underbridge.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) weather bulletin of Saturday, fairly Widespread to Widespread rainfall is likely over Chhattisgarh from 4-5th July, Gusty winds (speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) are likely over Chhattisgarh during 6th-8th July.
