The notification was issued under Sections 3, 4, 5 and 7 of the Act which empowers citizens to claim timely provision of government services and inform the citizens about the remedies available in case of failures in the delivery of services.
The government has also stipulated the duties of both the designated officials, competent authorities, and appellate authorities for each notified service. Specific timelines have been set for the processing of hand-in applications and providing services, starting from arrival, that are worked out in working days. The main aim of this structure is to bring down unnecessary delays from citizens in seeking labour related approval, certificates and other official services which often creates delays while dealing with administrative technical issues.
The change will help a lot workers, employers and the public as it will provide an important contribution towards avoiding unnecessary bureaucracy, officials said, describing the change as a move that will help avoid pointless trips to government offices. Applicants, in the event it does not arrive within the stated timeframe, have the right to appeal to the provisions of the Act.

Departments have been asked to ensure careful implementation of the new rules with the aim that services will be provided timely and effectively according to the timelines outlined in the notification.
