The Chhattisgarh government has launched a scheme for short-term loans, which has no interest rate for government employees, to help get financial assistance during the time of emergency and to support the employees’ welfare.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the ‘Salary Advance Short-Term Loan Scheme’ is a testament to the government’s dedication to the welfare of its employees, noting that they are essential to the development of Chhattisgarh.
The scheme has been developed to assist members, where medical emergencies, family responsibilities and other unplanned events occur, who have an urgent financial need. It tries to lessen the reliance on loans from private lenders and high-interest loans that might be a source of financial strain for employees.
The major aspect of this program is that it is all paperless, transparent and efficient as it is integrated with the state’s e-Kosh digital platform for the entire process.
The scheme enables employees to apply for a loan online, from their homes, without having to go to the government’s offices. Application process involves e-KYC based verification resulting in quicker and secure approvals.
According to the government, the repayment term for the loans would be without any interest and would also load on the beneficiaries again. Upon Approval the amount of the loan will be deposited into the employee’s bank account.
Repayment has also been made easy through deduction from salary, where employees can repay the loan easily without having to complete a lot of paperwork.
The digital system will aid the reduction of delays, increase transparency and reduce the avenues for corruption, officials said.
The Chhattisgarh government considers that this programme will not just help to give assurances to employees when they face crises but will also embellish the policy making process with a motivated and assured workforce, which will help them carry out public welfare programmes effectively.
