Chhattisgarh government launches Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana on the 29th death anniversary of Former PM
Chhattisgarh : On the 29th death anniversary of Former Prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, Chhattisgarh Government launched “Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana.”, which is said to benefit 19 lakh farmers of Chhattisgarh amid the coronavirus crisis.
Chhattisgarh Government has launched this scheme to accelerate the rural economic growth and to create new employment opportunities in the agriculture sector. In order to encourage farmers to cultivate crops, the state government will provide paddy and maize cultivating farmers assistance with the rate of maximum Rs 10,000 per acre in a proportionate manner from Kharif 2019 season, depending on the quantity acquired through cooperative society.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi attended the inaugural programme of the scheme from Delhi via video conferencing. Alongside, Former PM Dr. Manmohan singh, Punjab CM Amarinder Singh, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot and many renowned ministers were also virtually present for the launch of the scheme.
Addressing the launch event on the occasion of Rajiv Gandhi’s death anniversary, she lauded the scheme, saying it will bring a change in the lives of farmers and help them become self-reliant.
“Such schemes should be implemented at the ground level to help bring a change in the lives of people. This is a revolutionary scheme and is a true tribute to Rajiv Gandhi. This is a big step taken in lines with the values of Rajiv Gandhi,” she said.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana will benefit 19 lakh farmers and help bring more area under cultivation.He said the aim of the scheme is to help farmers earn more and bring more area in the state under cultivation, which currently stands at 20 per cent.
In addition, Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi also lauded the Chhattisgarh government for launching the scheme at a time when the poor and farmers were facing hardships due to lockdown and coronavirus outbreak.
Notably Chhattisgarh is the first state of the country to provide financial relief of Rs 5700 crore through DBT in bank accounts of farmers. Main objective of this scheme is to encourage production of crops and to provide farmers the fair value of their produce.
