In the run-up to the Chhattisgarh Assembly Special Session, the BJP legislative party had a significant meeting that was held at the main committee hall of the Assembly to strategize on the proceedings of the day. The special session has been summoned to deliberate and enact a condemnation motion against the opposition due to failure to enact Nari Shakti Vandan Act in parliament.

The state government intends to make strident protest against the non-enacting of the Bill that is associated with the 131st Constitutional Amendment with regard to the women reservation and delimitation. The matter will cause a fiery debate between the Bharatiya Janata Party, which is in power, and the Indian National Congress, which is the opposition party within the Assembly.

In the past, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai had criticised the opposition, saying that they had been interfering with the aim of having 33 percent women as reservation. He stressed that the case transcends beyond politics and it is closely intertwined with social justice and the dreams of millions of women nationwide.

Conversely, the Congress leaders have retaliated by accusing the government of politicising the issue to gain electoral benefits. The party has complained that it is not clear on how it is going to be implemented and has also challenged both the central and state governments on whether they are committed to women reservation.

As the two parties gear up, the special session will see hard discussions and political barbs take place over the controversial topic.
