A controversy has heated up in the politics of Chhattisgarh following the release of a video on social media which shows former minister and BJP leader Ajay Chandrakar, whose voice is heard making some tasteless remarks against a government official.
In the video, Chandrakar is seen addressing farmers at a summit on disbursement of water at a dam for growing paddy rice, reports said. At this point, he mentions one of the executive engineers who is allegedly conducting “netagiri” or political work amongst the village.
When reading the report of his comment, Chandrakar is heard saying “If he had seen my officer, I might have ‘buried’ him. This video has since been shared on social media and has been criticized by the Congress. According to reports, the heavy details and context behind the recording is not independently confirmed.
Congress communication chief Sushil Anand Shukla condemned Chandrakar for his remarks and urged the BJP top brass to heed his language. Shukla further pointed out that Chandrakar had been left out of the state cabinet and had exhibited “objectionable language” several times over the past.
Shukla also added that Chandrakar should get himself a “mental check-up” at AIIMS and get some rest. The remarks were being touted as part of a political rebuttal by the BJP chief and were being used by his critics to describe his comments.
The debate is about the issue of water availability for paddy and alleged remarks by the hand. The viral video featuring Chandrakar’s remarks have since been turned into a political issue in the state.
The BJP chief has, so far, made no public statement clarifying this viral recording, in the reports read. The Congress has called for the BJP leadership to take cognisance of the issue and more details of the circumstances surrounding the video are awaited.
