Gariyaband: Atmanand English Medium School at Devbhog has set an example as it is now the first school to provide IAF NCC training to its first years in the district. The school has got consent to start Air Force Junior NCC program, whereby the first set of students recruits 10 females and 14 males. Today, the school’s talented students were selected by Junior Warrant Officer S.N. Paul, accompanied by Sergeant Sunil Kumar and Shashank Thapliyal of the Air Force. Last year, under the guidance of the Principal Er. Girish Chandra Behera and the NCC in-charge, Mr. Ganesh Soni, students went through physical tests and selection interviews.
This achievement has made the Atmanand English Medium School the first district school to impart Air Force NCC training. Wing Commander Vivek Sahu was instrumental in bringing this achievement to this school. Apoorv Gupta helps with tedious work like cleaning, and Prashant Rajawat is one of the better-known faces, being a teacher and an Air Wing NCC “C” certificate holder, who knew about the whole procedure. Soni has been in touch with the NCC officers for the past 18 months, slogging with the principal, Girish Chandra Behera, to make this dream possible at the school. Later, on the 22nd of September, a physical assessment of the campus, ground facilities, and spaces available for drills by the officers of NCC in the school.
Ganesh Soni NCC in charge who is an ex Air force NCC cadet clarified that after two years of junior division training students shall be awarded the respected “A” certificate which has values in the different fields. And on campus, Air Force officers will be conducting training activities that include parade drills, aircraft flying, and military firing activities every week. In the second year of the program, the students will get an opportunity to attend special training camps at Raipur, and they will also get a chance to fly.
NCC believes in taking military discipline, national unity, and social responsibility among the youth.
