Mirzapur: The Movie starring Mohitt Maalik as Birju has drawn in some attention which includes the actor’s extreme action scenes. During the interview, Maalik spoke about his preparations for the role, getting Birju’s look as well as doing his own stunts in the movie.
Prior to acting out the role, Mohitt Maalik spoke with director Gurmmeet Singh about his looks and physique, he admitted. He then checked with trainer and they came up with a “desi” body build for Birju. The actor took on as many alterations as possible, including growing a beard and adding elements like tan.
The action scenes also posed difficulties for the actor, as some scenes were shot in Jaisalmer. Maalik said it was hard performing sequences on sand, particularly if it was cold. A day before shooting the actual scenes the team rehearsed for the complex shots.
But Maalik said that he did his stunts without any support from anyone (almost all during the film shoot), because of the difficulties. He said he loves action and stated that he didn’t use any body doubles on his sequences in the movie. The actor states in a Twitter post that he was tested, yet everything was worth it.
Maalik also shared his apprehensions about joining the Mirzapur outfit. He was intimidated by the established actors and the popularity of the characters got to him but ultimately he got down to work and preparation for Birju.
Whether led by film director Gurmeet Singh, the cast of Mirzapur: The Movie is headed by Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, Jitendra Kumar and Ravi Kishan with Rasika Dugal, Shweta Tripathi, Sheeba Chaddha and Mohitt Maalik. It is an adaptation of the popular Mirzapur series which is going out of the stream and into the film.
