RAIPUR: As the probe into the Mehrauli murder deepens, spine-chilling murders of girls have been surfacing across the country. The CG police nabbed the accused involved in murdering a girl and burning her body in order to dodge the police. The absconding accused identified as Sumit Agarwal as informed by the officials was caught on a train en route to Kolkata. Additional SP of Police Abhishek Maheswari confirming the detention said- Prima facie, the accused is a history-sheeter and a drug addict. The accused, under custody, is being interrogated, following which details of the incident may surface, the police added. However, it is learned that the accused Sumit wanted to marry Tanu, and on being rejected he brutally murdered her.
Tanu Kurre, a 26-year-old resident of Korba had moved to Raipur and was employed at Axis Bank, Mova Branch. Kurre, according to her parents was not traceable since Nov 21 and so a missing complaint was filed at the Mova PSon Nov 22. Subsequently, a search operation was launched that led to the discovery of the girl’s dead body in the forests of Turikela area of Balangir district Orissa on Nov 30th. The complaint mentioned that the parents continuously received WhatsApp messages from her mobile, which kept them under the impression that she was alive. They also added that Sumit assured them that Tanu was safe and would return home soon.
Based on the information gathered during the preliminary probe, a look-out notice was issued for Sumit Agarwal- a resident of Orissa who would regularly visit Raipur on Business trips. Reports state that Tanu Kurre and Sachin were in a love relationship for three years.
