BIJPAUR: A Naxal was killed in a gun battle that took place between the security forces and Naxals in CGs naxal dominated Bijapur on Tuesday said a police official. Two Maoists, one of them injured were also apprehended he added.
An encounter took place at around 8 am near Kachlawari village under Naimed police station limits, located about 400 km from the state capital Raipur. A team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) was out on a search operation, Bijapur Superintendent of Police Anjneya Varshney said confirming the incident.
The injured Naxal was shifted to the hospital while the body of the other naxal was taken over by the security forces. A search has been launched after a huge cache of the radical outfit was recovered. As per reports naxals fled the spot following the encounter.
