In a major operation, the security forces were involved in an encounter at the Akhnoor sector of Jammu district, and the forces killed two terrorists on Tuesday morning while the third militant was killed on Sunday night.
This 27-hour-long face-off, which took place near the LoC in the Akhnoor area, started when one of the terrorists fired at an ambulance that was moving in an army convoy on Monday morning.
In the initial phase of the operation, the army and special force teams carried out very aggressive intelligence gathering and by evening, the first loss was reported. After that, the two other terrorists were eliminated within two hours on Tuesday when combined assault contingents of the army and police attacked near the Assan temple in Jogwan village, which is in the Battal-Khour locality.
The White Knight Corps of the army, based in Nagrota, put out a post on social media platform X, expressing their appreciation for the tireless efforts of the forces. On Tuesday in the morning, an extended firefight took place and, thus, a superior success of our forces. The crude, robust, continued operation and tactical annihilation have resulted in the neutralization of three terrorists. It also led to the full recovery of war-like stores, which was a key achievement in the restoration and enhancement of security in the region, they noted.
Security forces think that the terrorists crossed the border on Sunday night and then attacked the army caravan near the temple. Security forces, even as witnessed stopping their operations of the day, responded to a surveillance night to advance at first light on Tuesday around 7 AM, sparking firing. This operation highlights the current state and prevalence of terrorism and the measures that are still being taken by security in order to prevent such incidents.
