Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has sparked fresh speculation over his long-awaited India debut after posting a cryptic message on social media ahead of the second T20I against England.
The 15-year-old posted an Instagram story with the description ‘new chapter’ yesterday, prompting speculation amongst fans as he has been sitting at the bench for the past three contests for senior India.
Sooryavanshi was overlooked in both T20Is against Ireland and did not feature in the opening T20I against England, which was washed out after India’s innings.
Indian bowling coach Morne Morkel, though, cautioned against joining the youngster in the playing 11, suggesting that they should, instead, keep playing and supporting veteran names such as Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson who have been performing consistently for the Indian team.
Morkel said Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been a delight in training and is prepared for the next step; the teenager is obviously doing well as a teenager in this country.
His sharp takeover performances in the nets have already caught the eye of social media enthusiasts and created quite a buzz, with fans keen to see his debut in the upcoming T20I series against England.
