Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while addressing the second All India Police Badminton Cluster Championship 2025-26, said that “Uttar Pradesh is the most populous state in India. A population of 25 crores resides in this state. Out of this population of 25 crores, 56% of this population is the working force i.e. youth. The healthier the population, the better results this population will give us. The discipline, determination and dedication with which a player is prepared on the sports field, through which a personality is carved which can become an important link in making the nation strong, safe and developed.”
In his address, Yogi further stated, “Our tradition believes in this principle: ‘Sharirmadyam Khalu Dharmasadhanam.’ All the means of life are possible only with a healthy body, and this requires that individuals incorporate sports activities into their daily routine. The discipline, determination, and dedication taught on the field shape an athlete’s personality in such a way that they can become a vital link in making the nation strong, safe, and developed. Behind every medal lies a story of struggle and a determination to never give up. Talent gives us a start, but hard work takes us to the goal. The more sweat we shed, the greater the victory. Sports teach us to fall, rise, and then win again.”
The CM further stated that today, sports has become a powerful medium for “Ek Bharat – Shreshtha Bharat” and nation-building. Campaigns like “Khelo India,” “Fit India,” and the Members of Parliament’s Sports Competition are providing even the lowest-level athletes in society with a platform that offers them excellent opportunities to showcase their talent.
As a result, India’s participation in the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, and World Championships has increased and is achieving unprecedented success. Uttar Pradesh is among the states that have implemented a transparent system of direct recruitment, promotion, and cash rewards for skilled athletes. Our government has also established a 2% horizontal reservation in jobs to help athletes build respectable careers.
