The PBKS on Thursday suffered its 5th defeat in its clash against MI in Dharamsala on Thursday. Being put into batting by MI stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah, Punjab posted 200/8 in 20 overs.
Prabhsimran Singh top-scored with 57, having been dropped twice. Shardul Thakur picked up four wickets, but Azmatullah Omarzai, Vishnu Vinod and Xavier Bartlett hammered fiery cameos to rescue PBKS later on.
Having somehow dragged itself to 200, Punjab Kings bowled itself into a position of strength with five overs to spare. But then came Tilak Varma, who produced a stunning display of death overs hitting to blitz 72 from the final five overs and get MI over the line. He was ably supported by Will Jacks, who recreated his T20 World Cup heroics with a useful cameo. Closely following PBKS in the fifth and sixth spots are Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals, both with 12 points from 11 matches.
