The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) has sacked Bev Priestman, the head coach of the women’s national football team, ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics. This decision has been made after claims of spying conspiracy via a drone. The COC declared early on Friday that assistant coach Andy Spence will replace head coach Ben Ryan for the rest of the carnival. This was seen as a major transition in the defending gold medalists as they prepared themselves for the next games.
Travel Attacks During Paris Olympics
While this happens, Paris is grappling with several disarranges in its high-speed TGV rail due to a string of coordinated attacks. SNCF, which is a state railway company, noted that in its major railway axes from Paris to the west, north, and east of France, installations had been attacked by vandals. They included deliberate acts of arson that have further worsened the provision of train services, especially during the many holidays of the summer season.
The official statement of the SNCF pointed out that the arsonists’ actions affected the three high-speed routes, specifically the Atlantic, Northern, and Eastern high lines. It has made a sad situation even worse as many people have had their morning flights affected, not to mention during one of the busiest times in terms of departure towards the holidays.
The French Sports Minister Améléa Oudéa Castéra said that such actions are unbearable and stated that to attack the games is to attack France, while the Transport Minister Patrice Vergriete labelled these actions as malicious and criminal, which will harm the holiday of many French citizens.
Some Olympic matches, like football, are planned to be held in Paris and other cities in France, such as Nantes and Bordeaux. These cities are linked to Paris through the broken rail transport system, which will make it even more difficult for the athletes, spectators and the rest of the teams.
