The 15-year-old star of the Rajasthan Royalties, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is still impressing audiences by his fearless batting skills that have made him one of the best in the IPL 2026 season. But on one of his off-days, the young opener was sacked by the Durrow Kyle Jamieson off four runs in a collision with Delhi Capitals.
Jamieson made a fantastic low yorker which defeated Sooryavanshi, cutting short his innings. What ensued, however, was the subject of much controversy. The New Zealand pacer was extremely jubilant, screaming in the direction of the youngster- an act that was not well received by the governing council of the IPL. This led Jamieson to be warned and receive a demerit point due to violation of the code of conduct.
The event has elicited mixed feelings in the cricketing world. Some were too critical of the send-off as being too excessive, but others justified it as a natural demonstration of the competitive spirit. Lockie Ferguson emerged in favor of his teammate he said that passion and emotion are inseparable elements of the game. He went on to say that these moments make it even more intense and exciting to the fans, more so when it comes to high-stakes contests.
Sooryavanshi already has more than 400 runs to his name in this season and has already proven to be top of bowlers such as Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Jasprit Bumrah. The fans were looking forward to watch him face off with Mitchell Starc however that never happened and hence Jamiesons breakthrough is even more prominent in the story of the match.
