Indian men’s doubles duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty showcased their resilience as they advanced to the final of the Indonesia Open World Tour Super 1000 event in Jakarta. Despite losing the first game, the seventh-seeded Indian pair fought back to defeat Korea’s Min Hyuk Kang and Seung Jae Seo in a thrilling semifinal match lasting one hour and seven minutes. The final scoreline read 17-21, 21-19, 21-18 in favor of the Indian duo.

With this victory, Satwik and Chirag hold a 3-2 head-to-head record against Kang and Seo. They are currently ranked sixth globally and are set to compete in their first World Tour Super 1000 final. The outcome of the other semifinal clash between Pramudya Kusumawardana and Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan of Indonesia and the second-seeded Malaysian pair of Aaron Chia and Wooi Yik Soh will determine their opponents in the final.

Satwik and Chirag faced a tough challenge in the semifinal as they had to recover from a slow start. They displayed their aggressive style of play to narrow the gap and eventually clinch the second game. The decider witnessed a closely fought battle, with both teams exchanging points. However, the Indian duo seized control with a seven-point surge and maintained their composure to secure a well-deserved victory.

The Indonesia Open is part of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour, which consists of various levels offering different ranking points and prize money. The Super 1000 level, where the Indian pair competes, is among the highest in points and prize pool.
