Suryakumar Yadav, who has captained the India T20I team, could lose his job soon. This will surely mean a bye in the team’s playing 11, apart from this. He has been a great captain for the Indian team so far but he seems to be a worry because selectors will be able to make a final decision on him by June 6.
He may be replaced by Shreyas Iyer as a captain of the Indian team. Iyer was also set to be a captain as he will be replacing Suryakumar Yadav at number four. It has also been reported that if Shreyas Iyer is still not the skipper, then it’ll come down to Tilak Varma, who is seen by the selection committee as a high among the numerous outside suggestions. If Tilak isn’t picked as captain, then he might be considered a vice-captain.
Another report claimed that the team’s Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar was anxious to once again give Suryakumar Yadav the opportunity to serve as a skipper in the England tour. However, he had problems in the IPL 2026 season, which has hampered them in making this decision. Suryakumar Yadav is a great captain and has captured both the Asia Cup 2025 & the T20 World Cup 2026 for India.
Recently, there was a list of many Asian Games probables that were released. And interestingly, his name, Suryakumar Yadav, wasn’t visible on the same, a nod towards his axe from the Indian team. Whether Sri Suryakumar Yadav’s place as the captain of the Indian team in the upcoming ODI series against Ireland and England is going to be filled by anyone yet is not known.
