A poor defeat to the Mumbai Indians, where the Delhi Capitals lost control of a match that they were in command of, has left the side near the top of the IPL 2025 points table despite it. They can regain the top spot with a major game at hand against the Gujarat Titans, and several of their rivals have slipped up in recent fixtures. Victory against the Rajasthan Royals could be the vital momentum on the back of a blockbuster clash with Gujarat later this week.
But before they are allowed to ponder that showdown, Axar Patel and his boys must concentrate on the current task at hand – not allowing their previous defeat to turn into a trend. DC will play at the Arun Jaitley Stadium with a tall order; they have to take on the point and keep their ship from back-to-back defeats in front of the home crowd.
It will be the Rajasthan Royals, who are still trying to find a groove and consistency, that they will come face to face with. In fact, Royal Challengers Bengaluru outplayed them in their last home game at Jaipur as well, winning convincingly. However, their bowling attack really looked listless and did not look to penetrate. Struggles are prevalent in every department at RR, so it’ll be a massive turnaround for them to be able to take on a good DC side.
Captain Sanju Samson, with his form in tatters, out of the game despite realising his luck when it comes to hitting the ball out of the ground, failed to click during their run chase. But after losing to MI, RR’s vulnerability could help the Delhi side.
This season, it has been a more balanced pitch at the Arun Jaitley Stadium — something which has been helped by it having a bit more for spinners. DC’s middle order has been boosted by Karun Nair’s return, and Kuldeep Yadav’s current form will be crucial. With small boundaries in play, it is an explosive affair which can get a little with its intriguing matchups as both sides seek to make a statement.
