Veteran Indian fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has, however, disclosed that his top priority had changed from returning to the national team back to the sport itself. The 36-year-old spinner, who played for India in 2022 last time, admitted that he has found the new normal in cricket and the pressure to make the next comeback is gone.
In his RCB Podcast, Bhuvneshwar stated that the greatest dream he had was to make India proud and he felt lucky that he did that now he is keen on enjoying the game. It is a time in his career when he finds himself greatly focused on the things he can do or things that happen to him, and not what is done to him, that are important such as playing for his own entertainment, he explained.
But the experienced seamer has continued his active career in the Indian Premier League, an active campaign in domestic cricket and UP T20 league. He underlined that discipline, a balance between competition and adequate recovery, and physical freshness throughout the season and year is important.
Bhuvneshwar has also given credit to his family for supporting him in being strong mentally while playing out of the Indian XI. He admitted there wasn’t much cricket talk amongst his family where they never asked him who he had failed to cut from the national team nor talked about any possible comeback.
Rather they do concentrate on maintaining a normal life so he maintains his positivity and avoids all the stress. Bhuvneshwar said it would forever be this way but underlined the fact that while the selection element is important, the joy will always lie in enjoying the game they play.
