BCCI has announced the Indian team for the ODI and test series against Afghanistan. It will start just a week after the Indian Premier League comes to an end, as the one off Test match is set to take place from 6 June. India and Afghanistan will be playing a test match after almost a decade, with the last game coming back in 2018.

Here are the teams for different formats announced by the BCCI:

Test Squad: Shubman Gill (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Rishabh Pant, Dhruv Jurel, Devdutt Padikkal, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Manav Suthar, Gurnoor and Harsh Dubey.

ODI Squad: Shubman Gill (C), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (VC), KL Rahul (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Hardik Pandya, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Prince Yadav, Gurnoor and Harsh Dubey.

What’s more exciting is the fact that the Indian team has announced KL Rahul as the vice captain of the lineup. He has done well for the Test side over the last few months, as he now aims to lead the team along with the skipper Shubman Gill.

Players such as Harsh Dubey and Gurnoor have gotten the opportunity to make their debut for the Indian cricket team. They have been selected for both formats, as Manav Suthar got the opportunity for the Test team. Prince Yadav has successfully made it to the ODIs, as Ishan Kishan also makes his ODI return after 2023.
