Chennai: Indicating mounting anxiety within the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leadership regarding the ongoing political deadlock, party insiders stated on Thursday that the TVK might deliberate a collective resignation of all 107 of its MLAs. This potential course of action is being considered should either the MK Stalin-led DMK or the Edappadi K Palaniswami-led AIADMK attempt to form a government.
This caution, while not formally conveyed by Vijay himself, mirrors the escalating frustration within the party as post-election discussions fail to yield a resolution and the mathematical requirements of government formation continue to cause delays.
TVK members held a protest outside the Lok Bhavan in Chennai on Friday morning over Vijay not being invited to form a government yet. Congress has also called for a state-wide protest.
The development came a day after reports suggested that the DMK opened backchannel talks with its long-rival AIADMK in a bid to keep the TVK from taking charge. The DMK got 59 seats, while the AIADMK managed 47 in the April 23 Assembly polls.
