Bhopal- A recent statement by Kamal Nath, the President of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee, has ignited a political firestorm in the state, with the BJP accusing him of promoting class division and pursuing electoral gains at the expense of unity.
In his statement, Kamal Nath claimed which political party came first in the state, drawing sharp criticism from the BJP. The BJP has slammed his statement as “ridiculous” and asserted that the Congress, not their party, engages in divisive politics.
Narendra Saluja, a spokesperson for the BJP in Madhya Pradesh, vehemently criticized Kamal Nath’s remarks. He emphasized that the BJP deeply respects all sections of the state’s population and accused Kamal Nath of making such statements solely for electoral purposes. Saluja further pointed out that the Congress appears to be neglecting the tribal population in the ongoing election and questioned why, during the Congress’s years in power, no tribal leader was appointed as Chief Minister. This, he argued, amounted to betrayal and insult to the tribal community.
The controversy has garnered attention from groups such as the Sanskriti Bachao Manch, which staged protests against Kamal Nath’s statement. Chandrashekhar Tiwari, the convener of the Sanskriti Bachao Manch, demanded an apology from Kamal Nath, asserting that his comments displayed a lack of historical knowledge. Tiwari emphasized that Madhya Pradesh is not the domain of any particular class but rather a representation of Sanatan values. He argued that Kamal Nath’s remarks had insulted the essence of Sanatan and accused him of attempting to sow division among various social strata.
The ongoing political clash highlights the intensifying rhetoric in the lead-up to elections in Madhya Pradesh and the contentious issues of class and identity in the state’s political landscape.
