Bhopal- Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Pakariya village in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh, on June 27. This village holds special significance as it showcases an example of women’s empowerment. The panchayat governing this village is led by women, with 13 out of 20 sarpanches being women. Moreover, more than 200 women have become millionaires through self-help groups supported by the Aajeevika Mission. These women and sarpanches, deputy sarpanches, and other group members are actively preparing for the Prime Minister’s program.
Pakaria village, part of the Budhar Janpad Panchayat, has a population of around 5,000. Among its 20 wards, 13 are represented by female panches, while the remaining seven have male representatives. Within the Samdatola and Government Tola localities of Pakaria Gram Panchayat, approximately 442 women have engaged in self-employment through various initiatives, including the production of chauka utensils, as part of the Aajeevika Mission. The village has formed 29 groups, and approximately 200 women associated with these groups have achieved financial success.
During his visit, the Prime Minister will address a gathering at the Lalpur airport ground and later enjoy tribal dishes, including Kodo kutki, in the tribal environment of Early Tola in Pakaria village. The administration is preparing extensively for the event, with over 1 lakh people expected to attend. Stringent security measures have been implemented, with more than 50 IPS officers deployed and the imposition of Section 144 in the Lalpur Pakaria area. Drones will also be used for additional safety and surveillance.
