Rewa, MP: Tracing an illegal paddy trade-in Rewa district of MP, police officials have registered a case against Mauganj businessman Anish Gupta on the instructions of Collector Dr Illayaraja T.
Soon after the matter came to light, officials were engaged at the Tikura purchase centre of Laur police station area on Monday. A preliminary search disclosed 43 quintals of paddy that was illicitly traded from UP. Interrogating the driver it was revealed that the load was being brought from UP to be sold at Patharaha purchase centre. Seizing the load, police officials registered a case under Section ¾ EC Act and 420 of IPC on Tuesday. Along with the businessman Ashish Gupta, a case has also been registered against the driver Himanshu Kesarwani, Kanha Singh and President of Kalika SHG.
A similar incident was reported under the Panwar and Chakghat police station on Sunday where two tractors ferrying illegal paddy were confiscated. Citing the recurring illicit trades, the Collector had instructed the Civil Supplies Corporation and Revenue Department to initiate a detailed search.
