Jabalpur: A 20-year-old basketball national player committed suicide by hanging herself. Sources reveal that the girl was named as Sanjana Barkade, a student of BA second year at Mankunwar Bai Maha Vishwavidhyalaya stayed with her parents on rent in Ganga Nagar colony at Sanjeevani Nagar.
According to the reports, Sanjana practiced basketball regularly at bada dada ground in Jabalpur. Her parents had gone for a family function and as they returned they were shocked to see their daughter hanging in the room. Authorities at Sanjivani Nagar Police Station have initiated a thorough investigation to determine the underlying reasons behind this tragic incident.
In another shocking incident, a 10-year old girl hanged herself to death on Monday in Raisen district. The deceased was identified as Savita was 10-year old, a student of Class 6. Initial investigations by police have revealed that the girl’s father was an alcoholic and her mother used to scold her.
Both the incidents have raised severe questions on the circumstances that have forced the young girls to take this step. Detailed investigations may reveal the accused, but instances raises serious question on the mental health of young girls in the state.
