BETUL: As many as 11 were killed in an accident at village Jhallar on Partwara road in Betul district of Madhya Pradesh in the wee hours of Friday.
The deceased were labours including 5 men, 4 women and 2 children. As per preliminary investigation the SUV was carrying labourers returning from Kalamba, Maharshtra. Reports hint carelessness by the driver as the cause of the accident.
On receiving information about the accident, emergency forces swiftly swung into action and Betul Collector also reached the spot. Dead bodies were fished out from the vehicles and sent for post mortem while the injured have been admitted to nearby private hospitals.
Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chauhan condoled the loss of lives. Taking to Twitter he extended condolences to the bereaved families.
Meanwhile, the PMO in statement announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the next of kin who died in the accident and Rs 50,000 for those injured from the PM-Relief Funds.
