Tamil Nadu: A tragic incident took place in Kuladeepa mangalam in Tamil Nadu’s Kallakurichi district, two young girls Vanitha (4) and Raji (7) locked inside a Maruti Swift and died due to lack of oxygen supply.
According to the information, both the girls accidently got trapped inside the car while they were playing and the car’s child-lock mechanism could have automatically turned on trapping both the girls inside it.
Police officials stated that, “From what we have been able to gather, they were used to playing in the car earlier as well. The owner of the car had not used it in about 1.5 years due to some fault in it.”
The car belonged to a person named Raja who lived in the same street.
They both died from lack of supply of oxygen because the windows were closed which made it difficult for their voices to be heard from outside.
Child lock is a safety mechanism provided inside cars to ensure that a child seated inside the car does not open it accidentally. When the child- lock is on, the car can only be opened from the outside. This safety mechanism turned out to be a deadly trap for both souls.
Both the girls found to be playing outside and not coming back to home for several hours made them worried to the family members and neighbours.
They searched both the girls and found them lying in an unconscious condition inside that car.
Late at 5 pm, both the girls were brought to the nearby Tirukovilur government hospital where they were declared brought dead. Manalurpettai police have filed a complaint and are currently investigating the case.
