New Delhi: The total number of cases in India continues to grow. At present, the count has reached 13,85,522. On Saturday, 48,661 people tested positive of coronavirus for the second consecutive day. Also, 705 deaths in the last 24 hours pushed the death toll to 32,063.

At present, there are 4,67,882 active coronavirus patients in the country. Health Ministry data showed that 8,85,577 people who had been infected with the virus have recovered so far. With this, the cumulative recovery rate of India rose to 63.9 percent.

Of the total cases in the country, Maharashtra accounts for the highest number of cases with 26.4% of the total tally with 3,66,368, followed by Tamil Nadu(2,06,737) and Delhi(1,29,531).

Tamil Nadu become the second state to cross the grim milestone of 2 lakh after Maharashtra. Currently, there are total 2,06,737 cases and 3,409 deaths in the state.

In the last 24 hrs, 4,42,031 samples were tested. For the first time, Govt labs set a new record of testing 3,62,153 samples. Pvt labs also scaled a new high of 79,878 samples tested in a single day, said health ministry. So far, ICMR( Indian council of medical research) has conducted test over 1,62,91,331 sample.

A recent serological survey in Delhi found the presence of coronavirus-specific antibodies in about 23% of the samples tested. The results of that survey are being interpreted to suggest that about 46 lakh people in Delhi could so far have been infected with the novel coronavirus, and that “herd immunity” could be approaching.

Globally, Coronavirus infected cases crossed the mark of 15.9 Million and death toll rises to 6,43,826, according to John Hopskins University. A total tally of 15,998,267 has been infected worldwide while the number of people recovered reached to 9,262,520 which mounts for 57.8% of the total count.
