In a traumatizing incident, Sunday evening, the ISKCON temple located in Tirupati received an email in which the supposed ISIS threatened to bomb the temple.
After receiving the threat, the authorities of the temple immediately reported to the police, and the police reacted aggressively following the complaint. However, the email itself made a claim that the attack was going to be carried out by ‘Terrorists linked to Pakistan’s ISI’.
The threat prompted police units to rush to the scene to explore the situation at the ISKCON temple. Police bomb squad and sniffer dogs were used in the search for any bomb that might be in the compound. Responses to the death threats Under thorough inspection by the authorities, there were no hazardous materials to support the bomb threat as a real one.
This is the fourth bomb threat call made to the temple town of Tirupati in the last three days. Police have opened a follow-up process to arrest the person who sent the threat email. Earlier this week, many hotels in Tirupati too received similar bomb threat emails, owing to which people are getting more anxious about security.
Over the weekend, the bomb threats led to the evacuation of affected hotels and explosive ordnance officers investigating the premises to ensure people’s safety. Police Station Circle Inspector Tirupati East Police Station Srinivasulu said on Friday that three hotels have received bomb threat calls and emails, and an FIR has been registered about the emails. He wanted to reassure the public that from the different angles, the police were working on the case, they were committed to apprehending those who were behind these threats.
The series of hoax threats produced, in addition to panic, considerable police attention to the area, which indicates that such cases should not be disregarded, as such incidents may lead to the diversion of police forces and destabilization of public confidence in the police and other authorities. The police called on residents of the area to be cautious and report any strange incidences within the area as the search continued.
