DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday holds the first meeting with Chief Ministers of 21 states and UTs through video conferencing after the commencement of Unlock 1.0. This meeting was in a way to assess the current situation amid the coronavirus pandemic.

 “Timely decision have helped India to contain COVID-19 spread,” said Modi while interacting with the chief ministers.

Overall, this is the sixth meeting of Prime minister with all the chief ministers since the pandemic emerged in the country.

In his inaugural statement, the Prime Minister said that “the death of even one due to Coronavirus is tragic and unsettling. But it is also true that today, India is among those countries across the world where there have been least deaths due to coronavirus.”

Referring to the two-week long unlock 1 period, the Prime Minister while addressing the Chief Ministers said that “2 weeks have passed since Unlock 1.0, our experience during this time could be beneficial for us in future. Today I will get to know ground reality from you, your suggestions will help in chalking out future strategy.”

Modi also emphasized on his “do-gaj ki doori” mantra and cautioned everyone to rigorously follow social distancing and use of face masks. He said ” to even think of stepping out without a mask or face cover is not right at present. ‘Do gaj ki doori’, hand-washing & use of sanitisers is of utmost importance. With markets opening & people stepping out, these precautions are even more important.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday hinted that the opening of the economy will continue but taking full precautions . Modi said that many offices have opened, people have started going to office in the private sector also whereas markets and streets are witnessing footfall of people. A laxity, carelessness and indiscipline will weaken all the efforts to fight against Corona.

PM Modi said that we have to keep in mind that the more we can control the prevention of the coronavirus epidemic, the more the economy will open, our offices will open, the markets will open, the means of transport will open, and the more employment opportunities. Will be made. In the coming days, economic activity will expand in different states, its experience will benefit other states.

Along with Prime minister and Chief Ministers of states and union territories, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan also took part in the interaction held today between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and, via video conference.
