Amravati: In a twist, Kommareddy Pattabhiram, the spokesperson of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), has made accusations of unlawful arrest against the Andhra Pradesh police and Crime Investigation Department (CID) regarding the apprehension of their party president and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. This development emerged during an investigation into the. Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) scam.
According to Pattabhiram’s statement to a news agency, Naidu’s arrest process began at night in an unauthorized manner. He described a situation where a significant number of police officers had gathered outside Chandrababu Naidu’s place of stay.
Importantly, the TDP spokesperson pointed out that initially, Naidu was not mentioned in the First Information Report (FIR). Pattabhiram strongly defended Naidu’s track record. Stressed that as a Chief Minister, he played a pivotal role in establishing the highest number of skill development centres across the country. He raised questions about why arrests were being made without evidence in this case.
Additionally, Pattabhiram emphasized the level of security given to Chandrababu Naidu. He is granted Z plus security, which’s the security classification in India. Naidu’s safety is ensured by the elite National Security Guard (NSG), a force focused on terrorism operations.
Despite these security provisions, Pattabhiram alleged that hundreds of policemen had unlawfully detained all leaders who were present at the campsite alongside Chandrababu Naidu. He also revealed that NSG officials had intervened, attempting to prevent the arrest, citing improper procedure for arresting an individual under NSG protection, particularly at the early hour of 5:30 a.m. on a Saturday.
