Gandhinagar: S Jaishankar has now officially submitted the nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha Elections from Gujarat. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and BJP Unit President, CR Paatil accompanied him. He successfully completed the nomination process after visiting the assembly under the Returning officer, Rita Mehta.

The last date to file the nomination process is 13 July and the individuals who have applied can withdraw till 17 July, if they want. S Jaishankar even stood from Gujarat for the Rajya Sabha elections, four years ago. In case a polling would be needed, the voting process will also be conducted on 24 July for the results of the Rajya Sabha Polls.

There are a total of 11 Rajya Sabha seats in Gujarat and BJP holds 8 of them. The remaining three are being held by Congress. S Jaishankar, Jugalji Thakor, and Dinesh Anavadiya, have their terms coming to an end in the month of August. Therefore, elections will be taking place for these positions.

A few days ago, Congress also announced that they won’t be filing candidates for the Gujarat Rajya Sabha elections. The reason they gave was that the party is not having sufficient MLAs who could help the party win seats. Congress had a poor performance in the previous state assembly elections as they only secured 17 seats while BJP finished at 156 seats.
