An aide to Karnataka MLC Suraj Revanna, the elder brother of Prajwal Revanna, accused of sexual assault, has said to the police that he and a family member tried to coerce the lawmaker into giving money by threatening to file a fake sexual assault case. Following confirmation of the allegation, the police have now arrested both of them. The allegation was submitted against Chethan K. S. and his brother-in-law by Shivakumar, a close aide of Suraj Revanna.
In a countercomplaint, Chethan K. S. charged Suraj Revanna with sexual assault. Suraj Revanna is the son of Holenarasipura MLA H D Revanna and grandson of former prime minister HD Dewe Gowda.
Shivakumar stated in the lawsuit that Chethan became friend with him after joining the “Suraj Revanna Brigade.” The accused claimed Suraj Revanna had sexually abused him, and he threatened to file a police case when Shivakumar rejected Chethan’s latest request for money to cover family expenditures. Shivakumar stated that Chethan reduced his original demand of ₹5 crore to ₹2 crore.
In accordance with IPC sections 384 (extortion), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (involvement of others in the plot), the police have filed a case against Chethan and his brother-in-law.
According to the media, Chethan reported to a private channel that Suraj Revanna had molested him sexually in a farm house. The Karnataka police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is looking into allegations involving hundreds of pornographic recordings purportedly depicting the former MP, arrested Revanna’s brother, Prajwal Revanna, earlier this month. The politician is under judicial custody.
The controversy emerged after hundreds of pen drives containing vulgar videos were circulated throughout Karnataka prior to the Lok Sabha elections in Hassan, the former seat of Prajwal Revanna. Prajwal Revanna left India in April, just after his domestic assistant lodged a complaint.
