GANGTOK: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to attend the closing ceremony of 50 years of Sikkim’s statehood and launch projects worth Rs 4,000 crore on Tuesday, officials said.

Modi, who is on a two-day tour of the Himalayan state, will also visit an orchidarium at the Swarnajayanti Maitri Manjari Park here at around 9.30 am, they said.

The park has been developed as a world-class orchid experience centre. PM Modi on Tuesday played football with some youngsters in Sikkim’s Gangtok, a day after he wrapped up his West Bengal election campaign.

PM Modi arrived in Gangtok on Monday to take part in the closing ceremony of the 50th Statehood Day celebrations of Sikkim. He also interacted with Padma awardees and individuals who have made notable contributions across various fields in Gangtok.
