In recent times, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a wildlife rescue, conservation and rehabilitation centre known as Vantara in Gujarat’s Jamnagar district. This state-of-the-art facility contributes to the rescue of wildlife by taking care of them with advanced medical treatment and preserving their natural habitat, as an environment that gives them a place for the natural habitat they need.
At the inauguration ceremony, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries; Nita Ambani, his wife; their son Anant Ambani and his daughter-in-law Radhika Merchant were also present. PM Modi’s visit had also explored the centre’s facilities and he had spoken with various rescued animals, proof to his deep affection for the wildlife.
His visit was one of the highlights of his tour when he took a tour of the wildlife hospital with cutting edge medical technology including an MRI, CT scans and ICUs to give the injured or rescued animals the best care possible. When it comes to rare and endangered species, the hospital has a major role in rehabilitating and preserving these species.
PM Modi also interacted heartwarmingly with a lot of animals by feeding and playing with Asiatic and White Lion cubs, Clouded Leopard cubs, and Caracal cubs. He captured a special moment when he fed a White Lion cub, which was born at the centre’s Vantara when its mother was rescued and brought to Vantara for care.
Vantara is now raising caracals, which are a rare sight in India and are under conservation. They are raised in captivity for preservation, then released into the wild later.
During the Prime Minister’s visit, it became apparent the need for wildlife conservation and indeed India’s willingness to protect endangered species through the use of scientific rehabilitation and sustainable preservation methods.
