Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Guwahati today and announced three other medical colleges in the state during his one-day visit to the state on the occasion of Rongali Bihu.
In a series of tweet, PM Modi had shared his updates from his visit. “Glimpses from the visit to AIIMSGuwahati, a game changer project when it comes to healthcare in Assam and the Northeast”, tweeted PM Modi.
After inaugurating AIIMS Guwahati, PM Modi joined the platinum jubilee celebrations of Guwahati High Court and tweeted a video of the same.
Three medical colleges at Nalbari, Nagaon, and Kokrajhar have been built at a cost of around Rs 615 crore, Rs. 600 crores, and Rs. 535 crores respectively. The AIIMS campus has been built at a cost of Rs. 1123 crores with an annual intake of 100 medical students annually.
