In the 137th episode of his monthly radio show Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Modi appealed to youngsters and content makers to weave into their creativity to spread awareness about addiction so as to give rise to a drug free India.

While addressing the ‘Nasha-mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ programme, Modi said the slogan ‘Nasha-mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ has been in focus to build a ‘drug-free youth population and a drug free India of course’. He emphasized the problem of drug addiction is not confined to the individuals, rather is a familial and societal problem.

Modi truly urged the musicians, student groups, the theatre and the content creators to create awareness material in various Indian languages. He called everyone to be creative and ensure that creativity is used as an instrument of social change and they share their initiative with the hashtag, ‘NashaMuktYuva’.

The Prime Minister also dwelled upon the economic empowerment of the women through PM SVANidhi Scheme and said that women are approximately 46% of the beneficiaries of PM SVANidhi Scheme. This represents an additional 3.5 lakh women who have availed loans and grown their businesses under the scheme, Modi said.

He highlighted the example of Babita Sharma of Ghaziabad, who started Maharashtra’s first flower, earthen lamp, incense stick and other religious products shop in her local area after getting PM SVANidhi assistance.

Modi also talked about the entrepreneur TS Ningamma in Bengaluru, who started her business of making idli, dosa and sambar after the government took up the initiative with the scheme.

Modi highlighted the overall contribution of women-led businesses, saying as a woman’s enterprise expands, it helps her entire family to progress. According to him, these tales are instances to women’s empowerment and supposed the value of creating openings for women to be money making autonomous.
