New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi apologizes to the citizens in his address to the nation at 8:30 PM tonight (April 18), a day after the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill on women’s reservation failed to pass in the Lok Sabha. “Dreams of women of the country dashed. We could not pass the Women’s Reservation Bill, we apologise for that”, said the prime minister.

The Prime Minister’s address is expected to focus on the proposed implementation of women’s reservation in the legislature and the developments in Parliament. During his address, he said that the political parties have taken advantage to overtake the benefits of women. Taking a direct dig at RSS, DMC, and Congress, he said that these political parties have taken advantage to suppress the women of this country.

Furthermore, the prime minister said that every woman of this country knows the truth and therefore the opposition will have to pay for the sin done by the opposition by refusing the bill.

Ahead of PM Modi’s address, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee says, “Today, Prime Minister Modi will once again address the nation with yet another web of falsehoods.”

Further, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi says, “Delimitation was a clear attempt by the BJP to reduce the representation of Tamil Nadu, the Southern states, and the Northeast in Parliament.”
