However, Haryana Police stopped them at the border. During this, the farmers tried to break the barricading. Police fired tear gas shells to stop the farmers.
Haryana Police has asked the farmers for permission to go to Delhi. They say that they cannot go to Delhi without permission. After this, the farmers tried to break the barricading. After this, the police used tear gas to disperse the farmers at Shambhu border.
A Haryana Police officer deployed at the spot said, ‘We will first identify them (farmers) and then allow them to go ahead. We have a list of names of 101 farmers, only they should be allowed to march to Delhi. But these are not those people – we are not being allowed to identify them – they are moving forward as a crowd.
When a group of 101 farmers started marching towards Haryana from Shambhu border, after walking some distance they encountered security forces. Police officers present on the spot started talking to the farmers. Haryana Police said that only those farmers whose names are given in the list are allowed to march, but farmer unions say that they have not shared any list with Haryana Police. At the same time, the police say that the list has been given and none of these names match the names of the farmers who are part of the 101 farmer delegation.
