Nearly one third of registered voters of Delhi have been struck off the SIR electoral roll, which was published by the Election Commission on Monday morning.
As per the draft rolled out, names of 9,75,377 voters were identified, while the names of remaining 4,75,687 among 1.45 crore registered voters were missing from the SIR data.
It is being said the names were missing because they failed to submit their voter details during the one-and-a-half-month-long voters’ verification exercise conducted across 70 assembly constituencies of the capital.
Election Commission said many voters were not found at their registered addresses, while several others had shifted within Delhi or moved out of the city.
As per the figures released by the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer, enumeration form for 67.2 percent of Delhi electorate was submitted and digitized.
The remaining 32.8 were categorized as absent, shifted, dead, duplicate, or others.
Rohini recorded the highest rate of digitization of the enumeration forms at 83.4%. Tughlakabad had the lowest at 52.1%, according to sources.
Voters can file claims and objections against their removal from the draft list between August 31st and September 30th.
The appeals will be heard by October 29th and the final electoral roll will be published by November 4th.
Delhi is among the 19 states and union territories where the voter roll revision is being carried out in the third phase of SIR.
More than 19% of the voters in Karnataka, 16% in Haryana and 10.8% in Andhra Pradesh were removed from the draft list as a part of the exercise.
The first phase was conducted in Bihar in 2025, which was then extended to 12 states and union territories in the second phase in late 2025 and the first half of 2026.
