New Delhi: As the nation celebrates the pious festival of Eid al-Adha, President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi wish everyone well-being and prosperity. The festival of Bakrid, which is celebrated for around three days started on Sunday where Muslim around the world offer namaz at mosques after sunrise. The celebration is marked by sharing the joy with family, neighbors, and donations for a cause.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his heartfelt wishes on Twitter and called for furthering the spirit of collective well-being.
President Ram Nath Kovind also extended his wishes for countrymen through a tweet both in Urdu and Hindi. His tweet read that the festival of Bakrid marks the significance of humanity and sacrifice.
The Islamic beliefs suggest that this day is celebrated as a mark of remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim’s sacrifice for his faith in Allah.
Meanwhile, political leaders from round the globe wished everyone on the festival of Bakrid. Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi called for togetherness in his tweet.
