Mumbai: In an incident that took place on Monday morning, there was a shooting event on the Jaipur Mumbai Central Superfast Express (Train No. 12956) near Palghar railway station in Maharashtra. The perpetrator was identified as RPF Constable Chetan Singh from Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. Tragically, he. Killed four individuals, one of whom was Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Tika Ram Meena, for his escort duty.
The distressing incident unfolded while the train was en route from Jaipur to Mumbai. At around 5 o’clock in the morning, Constable Chetan Singh used his weapon to fatally shoot his ASI colleague Tika Ram Meena on the moving train. This shocking occurrence happened after the train had passed Palghar Station, leaving passengers and railway authorities in disbelief.
Disturbingly the constable didn’t stop at one act of violence. He proceeded to another section of the train. Opened fire indiscriminately, resulting in three passengers losing their lives tragically. Among those who lost their lives were individuals travelling to Mumbai for reasons.
After committing these horrifying acts, the constable managed to escape by pulling the emergency chain and getting off the train near Dahisar Station. The authorities acted quickly. They managed to apprehend him on Mira Road thanks to the combined efforts of the Government Railway Police and RPF officials.
One of the victims was ASI Tika Ram Meena, who hailed from Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan. The heartbreaking loss of this officer has deeply saddened his family, colleagues and the entire railway community.
