NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday stayed the trial court proceedings against BJP MP Manoj Tiwari in a defamation case filed by former deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and ordered that no further steps be taken against him in the matter.
After noting that proceedings against other co-accused like BJP leaders Vijender Gupta, Hans Raj Hans and Manjinder Singh Sirsa have either been quashed or stayed, Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma said— In the meanwhile, since proceedings against other accused have been stayed, let no further steps be taken qua the present petitioner.
Sisodia had sued Tiwari and five other BJP leaders for defamation after they alleged that he was involved in a scam of nearly ₹2,000 crore related to the construction of new classrooms in Delhi’s government schools.
Additionally, the Rose Avenue court also adjourned the hearing in connection to charges levelled against Sisodia in the liquor policy scam. It has posted the matter for 19th May.
