Kullu: In a chilling incident, multiple structures in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh were swallowed by a torrential landslide on Thursday morning. The harrowing visuals from the scene showed houses disintegrating like dominos amid the natural disaster. This alarming event occurred in Anni’s market area, located 76 km from the Kullu district headquarters.
Thankfully, preliminary reports indicate no loss of life, a testament to the proactive measures taken by the local administration. The affected structures had been evacuated, anticipating such an event, possibly saving countless lives. Many acknowledged and appreciated the proactive steps, including Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
In a statement, the Chief Minister remarked, “It’s a horrifying sight to witness such massive devastation. The visuals emerging from Anni are heart-wrenching. However, thanks to the timely intervention and risk assessment by our administration, the commercial building was emptied out two days prior to the disaster, ensuring no casualties.”
Despite the pre-emptive measures, the raw footage of the buildings collapsing is a stark reminder of nature’s unpredictable power.
