Lalbaugcha Raja mandal announces financial aid for Bhuleshwaracha Raja Ganesh Mandal accident victims

The Lalbaugcha Raja Ganeshotsav Mandal has extended support to the Bhuleshwarara Raja Ganeshotsav Mandal and the families of those who died after a 22-foot Ganesh idol collapsed during its arrival procession on August 22.

The mandal has announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹11 lakh to the Bhuleshwaracha Raja Ganeshotsav Mandal and ₹5 lakh each to the families of Sanket Nemshah, secretary of the Bhuleshwar Raja Ganeshotsav Mandal, and British Joshi, who were killed in the accident.

Two people died and five others were injured when the Bhuleshwaracha Raja Ganesh idol collapsed during its arrival procession on Saturday night.

A preliminary investigation report said a support structure at the back of the idol broke, causing it to collapse.

The incident took place at around 10 pm on Balaram Merchant Road near Kabutarkhana at Jai Ambe Chowk in Bhuleshwar, South Mumbai.

Following the incident, emergency services were immediately activated, with fire brigade personnel, police, ambulance services and civic ward staff rushing to the spot.

The injured were taken to a hospital for treatment. According to officials, two people died in the accident, while five others were injured.

An accidental death report has been registered by the police, and further investigation is underway. Post-mortem reports are awaited to ascertain the exact cause of death.
