Poonch: A major anti-militancy operation was launched in the Pir Panjal valley’s Poonch after militants and security forces exchanged fire on Sunday (April 13, 2025) evening. At least one soldier was injured after an encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Monday night, according to official sources.
The Indian Army, in a joint operation with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, launched “Operation Lasana” in the Lasana area of Surankote.
An Army spokesman said the security forces established a contact with terrorists during a joint operation launched along with the J&K Police at Lasana, Surankote last night. “Additional troops have been inducted, and search operations are ongoing to prevent the terrorists from escaping,” the Army said.
The number of militants hiding in the area could not be established immediately. The Jammu region saw the killing of five militants and four policemen during anti-militancy operations in the past one month.
In a statement issued today on social media, the Army said: “Contact was established with terrorists during a joint operation with Jammu & Kashmir Police at Lasana, Surankote last night.”
