New Delhi: On Monday, in response to China “brazenly and illegally seeking to claim parts of the Indian territory” which resulted in a violent standoff between both the nations where in 20 of our army men were killed brutally, all Indians were urged “to stand together as a nation and be united” by the former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The incident took place in Galwan Valley in Ladakh on the 15th-16th of June.

The Prime Minister and the Centre were also implored by Singh, to rise to the occasion of ensuring that justice is given to those including Colonel B Santosh Babu and other soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice and resolutely defended our territorial integrity. To do any less, would be a historic betrayal of the people’s faith.

The centre was also urged to ensure complete transparency, “We remind the Government that disinformation is no substitute for diplomacy or decisive leadership. The truth cannot be suppressed by having pliant allies spout comforting but false statements.”

The former PM also said that the Centre’s “decisions and actions will have serious bearings on how the future generations perceive us. Those who lead us bear the weight of a solemn duty. And in our democracy that responsibility rests with the office of the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister must always be mindful of the implications of his words and declarations on our Nation’s security as also strategic and territorial interests.”

Following the former PM’s statement, Congress leader- Rahul Gandhi said that he hopes PM Modi will follow Singh’s advice for the country’s betterment. He shared Singh’s statement on Twitter and has humbly requested the PM to follow his words.
