Starting today Google has announced that it’s going to merge its two video calling apps on a single platform for smartphones. The search giant Google has confirmed that the Meet and Duo are going to be merged and it will be known as Meet.
It makes sense because having two smartphone apps just for video calling doesn’t make sense now users can access both the video call links on a single platform. The company has confirmed that the two mobile apps are going to be converted into one video streaming platform and it will be available for iOS and Android both. The app will be able to accommodate 250 people in a single video call.
This integrated experience will provide users with a single solution for both video calling and meetings with people across their lives,” reads the official blog post. It seems that the Duo app is going to be taken down by the company as soon as the merger takes place.
As per the blog, Google is planning to add Meet features to the Duo app which allow users to “schedule a video meeting at a time that works for everyone, or continue using video calling to instantly connect with a person or group.”
